1. Who we are

PriceLens UK is currently operated by Charlie Dobson as a sole trader. PriceLens UK has not yet been incorporated as a limited company; this section will be updated with company registration details if and when that changes.

2. The Service

PriceLens UK helps you compare grocery prices across participating UK supermarkets and, through PriceLens Budget, plan shops, track receipts and household grocery spending, scan barcodes, and ask questions of an AI assistant. It is available as a website and as mobile apps. Product names, prices, availability, images, and related information ("Product Data") are collected from third-party supermarkets and other sources. We do our best to keep Product Data accurate and current, but we do not guarantee its accuracy, completeness, or timeliness, and prices or availability may differ from what you see when you reach a retailer's site. PriceLens UK is not a retailer and does not sell the products listed on the Service.

3. Accounts

• You must provide accurate information when creating an account and keep it up to date.
• You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your password and for all activity that occurs under your account.
• You must notify us promptly at hello@pricelens.co.uk if you suspect unauthorised use of your account.
• You must be at least 16 years old to create an account.

4. Acceptable use — protecting PriceLens UK data

The Service, and all Product Data, pricing data, matching and comparison logic, rankings, and underlying databases made available through the Service (together, "PriceLens Data"), are proprietary to PriceLens UK and/or our licensors and are protected by database rights, copyright, and other intellectual property laws.

Except as expressly permitted by us in writing, you must not:

• Scrape, crawl, harvest, mine, or otherwise systematically extract PriceLens Data, whether by bot, script, browser extension, or any other automated or semi-automated means;
• Access or attempt to access the Service using any method other than the interfaces and interfaces we make available for ordinary human use, including by circumventing rate limits, CAPTCHAs, authentication, or other access-control or anti-bot measures;
• Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the Service, or attempt to derive our underlying matching, normalisation, or ranking methods;
• Copy, republish, redistribute, sell, license, sublicense, rent, or otherwise commercially exploit PriceLens Data, in whole or in part, or use it to build or train a competing product, dataset, or model;
• Use the Service to build or supply a product or service that competes with PriceLens UK;
• Remove, obscure, or alter any proprietary notices on the Service or PriceLens Data;
• Introduce any virus, malware, or other harmful code, or otherwise interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the Service;
• Impersonate any person or entity, or misrepresent your affiliation with any person or entity;
• Use the Service in any way that violates applicable law, including UK data protection law.

We actively monitor for automated and unauthorised access. If we reasonably believe you have breached this section, we may, without notice, suspend or terminate your account, restrict your access, take technical measures to block further access, and pursue any legal remedy available to us, including injunctive relief and recovery of damages and costs.

5. Intellectual property

The Service, including its design, text, graphics, logos, and software (excluding Product Data owned by third-party supermarkets), is owned by PriceLens UK or our licensors and is protected by copyright, trade mark, and other laws. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to access and use the Service for your own personal, non-commercial use, subject to these Terms.

6. Marketing communications

If you opt in to marketing communications when creating your account, we will send you emails about deals, price drops, and product updates. You can withdraw your consent and unsubscribe at any time using the link in any marketing email or by contacting privacy@pricelens.co.uk. This will not affect transactional or account-related emails, which you will continue to receive. See our Privacy Policy for more on how we use your information.

7. Third-party sites

The Service links to third-party supermarket websites where you can purchase products. We are not responsible for the content, accuracy, pricing, availability, or practices of those third-party sites, and your use of them is subject to their own terms and policies.

8. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including warranties of accuracy, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that Product Data will always be accurate or up to date.

9. Limitation of liability

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence or for fraud. If we fail to comply with these Terms, we are responsible for loss or damage that is a foreseeable result of that failure. We are not responsible for loss that was not foreseeable, for business losses arising from personal use of the Service, or for a retailer changing a price or stock position after our information was collected. Your statutory consumer rights are not affected.

10. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold PriceLens UK harmless from any claims, losses, liabilities, damages, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your breach of these Terms or your misuse of the Service, including any breach of Section 4 (Acceptable use).

11. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or terminate your account at any time, with or without notice, if we reasonably believe you have breached these Terms or your use poses a risk to the Service, other users, or PriceLens Data. You may close your account at any time by contacting us.

12. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting a notice on the Service and, for significant changes, emailing registered users, and update the "Last updated" date above. Continuing to use the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.

13. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales will have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them or your use of the Service.

14. PriceLens Budget subscriptions

PriceLens Budget is an optional paid subscription. Eligible new subscribers receive a 14-day free trial and provide a payment method at checkout. Unless you cancel before the trial ends, we automatically charge the price and billing interval you selected at checkout, then renew the subscription for the same billing period until cancelled. You can subscribe on our website (processed by Stripe) or through the Apple App Store or Google Play (processed by Apple or Google as an in-app purchase).

• Website subscriptions are managed through the billing controls in your account. App-store subscriptions are managed through your Apple or Google account, in line with that store's terms.
• You can cancel a website trial through your billing controls before it ends and pay nothing. Trial access normally continues until the displayed trial end date.
• We send a reminder before a website trial ends, stating the upcoming charge and linking to the cancellation controls.
• Cancellation normally takes effect at the end of the paid billing period, so access continues until then.
• Price changes will be communicated before they apply to a renewal.
• Refunds for app-store purchases are handled by Apple or Google under their policies. Any statutory cancellation or refund rights you have remain unaffected.

15. Household recommendations, receipts and AI

PriceLens Budget provides estimates, forecasts and recommendations to help with household grocery decisions. They depend on retailer data, the information available in your account and assumptions explained in the feature. They do not guarantee a saving, a future price or product availability.

You are responsible for reviewing receipt extraction, product matches, dietary substitutions and AI-generated answers before relying on them. PriceLens AI may produce incomplete or incorrect information and is not financial, medical, nutritional or allergy advice. Always check packaging and retailer information where ingredients, allergens or suitability matter.
