About PriceLens UK

Started because the weekly shop shouldn't be a guessing game

Grocery prices in the UK have gone up, come down, gone back up, and quietly crept sideways — often within the same week, often on the exact same product. Nobody has the time to check ten different supermarket websites before deciding where to buy their milk. So we built something that does it for you.

Why we started

The cost of living crisis hasn't been a single bad month — it's been years of squeezed budgets, and grocery shopping is where most households feel it first. Prices vary more between supermarkets than most people realise, and that gap is real money: the difference between the cheapest and most expensive place to buy the same trolley of goods can run into tens of pounds a week.

PriceLens UK exists to close that information gap. We track prices across ten major UK supermarkets every night, so instead of guessing which shop is cheapest this week, you can just look it up.

What we do

  • Compare prices across Tesco, Sainsbury's, Asda, Morrisons, Waitrose, Ocado, Aldi, Lidl, B&M, and Poundland — updated nightly, not once a month
  • Show you the cheapest place to buy each item, and the cheapest way to buy your whole basket
  • Let you build and save a shopping list, or import one you already have, and see it priced up across every store at once
  • Track price history, so you can tell a genuine deal from a "was £5, now £4.99"

Who's behind it

PriceLens UK is built and run independently by one person who got tired of watching grocery bills creep up without any easy way to check whether a different supermarket would be cheaper. No investors deciding what gets prioritised — just someone trying to build the tool they wished existed.

Staying free for shoppers

Comparing current supermarket prices with Shoppa is free and always will be. PriceLens Budget is our paid household membership for people who want ongoing help planning, tracking and optimising their grocery spending. We also support the service by working with brands who want to understand pricing trends — never by charging people to see where their groceries are cheapest.

If PriceLens UK saves you even a few pounds on this week's shop, we've done our job.
